Surround / Effects Channel Speakers

Surround-channel speakers convey ambience (which establishes the acoustical character of the space in which the action is occurring) plus sound effects located away from (or moving away from) the screen. We recommend that the surround speakers be able to play down to 80 Hz or below. They do not have to play as loud as the front speakers, but modern digital soundtracks can be demanding enough in the surround channels that trying to save money with small, inexpensive speakers to reproduce them usually turns out to be a false economy. The surround speakers should have the same tonal character as the front speakers.
