In-Wall / In-Ceiling Speakers
In-wall and in-ceiling loudspeakers have a mostly well-earned reputation for mediocrity (or worse), but the concept can be very appealing for surrounds or in any situation where the speakers need to be visually inconspicuous. When we first decided to make in-walls, we knew they would have to be special, because they would often be used in systems with some of our other speakers. We succeeded by applying our Advanced Thin Film (ATF™) driver technology, high-performance tweeters, and an innovative mounting system that does more than just hold the speakers in place. The mounting system is important because a key problem for in-wall speakers is lack of a proper enclosure. No sane speaker designer would choose wallboard as a cabinet material! But our proprietary mounting system dramatically enhances wall stiffness, turning the cavity behind it into a large and relatively inert woofer enclosure.
